PerfTech's in-browser messaging product line was created in 2001 for ISPs and delivers messages to millions of subscribers every day. The company’s prolific engineering team has sought to develop innovative technology to implement and continually improve upon its products, submitting patent applications all along the way. To date, we are proud to announce that the team has racked up 32 patent awards. Patents have been granted in several broad areas, covering the method and technique to implement: in-browser bulletin delivery, redirection, delivery of an Internet “watermark”, message authentication, determining users on an Internet account, processing unsolicited email, and TV set-top-box message display. Many other patents represent extended technical details or continuations of patents that came before.
Prior to PerfTech, the core engineers had already accumulated substantial patents, some of which exist in almost every Internet Protocol router today. Members of the core team met and initially worked together at Datapoint Corporation in San Antonio during the mid-to-late 70’s, during which time Jonathan Schmidt presided as VP of Research and Development, and ARCNET, the first commercially available local area network, was created and brought to market. In the mid-80’s, the team founded a new company, Performance Technology, developing PC-based LAN products and Instant Internet, the first business LAN-to-Internet gateway; that company and product were later acquired by Bay/Nortel. Today at PerfTech, with the assimilation of an additional group of young and talented engineers, the tradition of cutting-edge invention lives on.
